TTG's STORY

THE GYM EXPERIENCE

Established in 1972 by Charley and Ginger Arons, Texas Tumbleweeds Gymnastics was born from a vision to provide quality gymnastics instruction from an early age. The program quickly expanded to offer preschool classes, recreational sessions, cheerleader tumbling, competitive gymnastics, and specialized camps, drawing students from both the local community and surrounding areas. Over the years, the school has proudly produced numerous State and Regional Champions.

Family has always been at the heart of Texas Tumbleweeds. Charley and Ginger, along with their three daughters—Terri, Regina, and Landa—were deeply involved in daily operations, teaching classes, and traveling across the state to judge meets and lead gymnastics clinics. Ginger made a lasting impact as a pioneer in the sport, serving as the State Judging Director from 1974 to 1980.

In May 2024, a new chapter began when Darian LaPlante, Chris and Melissa Matlock, and Blain Kruemcke—four graduates of Angelo State University—joined forces to carry forward Landa and Ginger’s enduring legacy. With Landa now retired and Ginger having passed in Spring 2025, our new leadership is more committed than ever to nurturing the community through sport, mind, body, and soul, all while being guided by Christian values.

Texas Tumbleweeds Gymnastics continues to be a beacon of excellence where tradition meets innovation, creating a supportive and inspiring environment for every athlete.
